PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ferrule and an optical connector capable of being easily assembled with high precision and also reducing the assembling time. SOLUTION: Relating to the ferrule 10 consisting of a ferrule cylindrical body 20 which holds the end part of a polarization maintaining optical fiber, a holding part 30 which is provided at the back end part of the ferrule cylindrical body 20 and holds a polarization maintaining coated optical fiber, and a collar member 40 which has a through hole into which the holding part 30 can be inserted and also has a key groove 42 for positioning with an optical connector housing on the peripheral surface, a mark 36 showing the polarization surface direction of the polarization maintaining optical fiber is provided on the outer periphery of the holding part 30, and the collar member 40 is provided so that the key groove 42 is set in a prescribed position to the mark 36.
