<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To predetermine the number of images which can be recorded on one recording medium. SOLUTION: In a step (1), the amount (sizeMax) of recording data per one piece of image information to be recorded is set and in a step (2), a target value (sizeAim) of the recording data amount is computed. The amount (codesize0) of compressed data compressed with a value Q0=95 and the amount (codesize1) of compressed data compressed with a value Q1=50 are measured in a step (3), and when it is decided in a step (4) that (codesize1)>=(sizeMax), the amount (codesize1) of data after compression when a value Q1 is set to 10 is measured in a step (5). In a step (6), the gradients and segments of the straight lines connecting the value Q0 and compressed data amount (codesize0), and the value Q1 and compressed data amount (codesize1) are computed from them and a value Qx when the target value (sizeAim) is substituted is found to perform compression.</p> |
