PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an elastic warp knitted fabric having large elongations and a strong fastening power well balanced between the warp direction and the weft direction, and little in hysteresis. SOLUTION: This elastic warp knitted fabric is produced by inserting or interknitting an elastic yarn into a ground fabric prepared by knitting a synthetic fiber multifilament and/or cotton yarn. The elastic yarn is inserted or interknitted with a swing width of 4 needles or 5 needles in the weft direction. The elastic yarn is preferably a multifilament. A knitted fabric texture which is knitted using three reeds, especially a 6-course satin is useful and widely used. This knitted fabric texture is suitable as a knitted fabric for a sport wear, an inner wear or the like which can correct the shape of body of the wearer and follow the move in any direction without having directionality.
