A piston rod (12) and piston (13) subject to disturbing forces (100) has hollow compartments (20,21) linked with working chambers (18,19) which contain hydraulic liquid. A compensating chamber (30) is connected to the working chambers through adjustable non return valves (32,33). During shocks energy is absorbed within the piston compartments by porous matrices (51,61) in a non wetting liquid (52,62) contained in watertight bags (50,60).
