Synthesis and immobilization of nucleic acid (NA) on a solid support modified by an organized, self-assembled monolayer of an organosilicon compound (I). (I) has formula X1X2X3Si-(CH2)n-Am-B (I) n = 15-35; m = 0 or 1; X1, X2 and X3 = same or different 1-6C alkyl or a hydrolyzable group, but not all alkyl; A = -O(CH2CH2O)k-(CH2)i; k = 0-100; i = 0 or an integer; B = OCOR, OR, or halo when m = 0, and when m = 1, B is R1 when k and i are both 0; OR1, OCOR1, NR1R2, COOR1, CONR1R2, SR1 or halo when k = 0 and i is not zero; R1, COR1, COOR1, or CONR1R2, when k is not 0 and i = 0, or OR1, OCOR1, NR1R2, COOR1, CONR1R2, SR1, or halo when neither k or i are zero; R1 and R2 = hydrogen, 1-24C hydrocarbyl (optionally substituted, saturated or unsaturated, linear or branched) or aryl. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) process for synthesis of NA using a solid support modified by (I); (2) process for immobilization of NA using a solid support modified by (I); and (3) DNA chip produced by method process for immobilization of NA. |
