<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to store an image in a color space having a limited color range while holding extended color range information. SOLUTION: A limited color range digital image is formed by adjusting color values of an extended color range digital image 20 into the limited color range, the limited color range digital image 22 is represented in a stored color space, and a clipped limited color range digital image 61 is determined by clipping a very quantized area in the limited color range digital image 22; and a remaining image showing the differences between the extended color range digital image 20 and clipped limited color range digital image 61 is determined and related to the limited color range digital image 22 in the stored color space, and the related remaining image 26 and the storage space digital image 24 are so adapted that they are used to form a reproduced extended color range digital image.</p> |
