PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily issue various instructions to a disk array controller and to easily and speedily collect the internal state or error occurrence of the disk array controller. SOLUTION: When electronic mail from a serviceman or manager is received, a mail receiving module 23 interprets a command described in the header or text of the electronic mail and when an instructed command is permitted, corresponding to this command, instructions are issued to a periodical mail issue schedule module 20 and a recording and reproducing module 21 or mail transmitting module 22. According to the instructions from the mail receiving module 23, the periodical mail issue schedule module 20 and the recording and reproducing module 21 or mail transmitting module 22 execute electronic mail transmission for reporting a periodical mail issue schedule, operating state or internal state.
