PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotary magnetic encoder with a simple structure and capable of being miniaturized. SOLUTION: This encoder is constituted by an encoder housing 9 supported by a motor housing, a hollow shaft 4 rotatably supported by the encoder housing 9 via bearings 6 and connected to a motor shaft 13, rotary magnetic drum 5 attached to an outer circumference of the hollow shaft 4, an MR sensor 7 attached to the encoder housing 9 via a predetermined void with the rotary magnetic drum 5, and a plate spring 12 comprising a magnetic material inserted between the motor housing and the encoder housing 9 so as to cover the encoder housing 9.
