PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a refrigerator which enhances the heat exchange capability of a cooler and a higher internal capacity of storage by innovating the layout. SOLUTION: A number of grooves 43 are formed in the longitudinal direction of a pipe of the internal surface of a refrigerant pipe 41 making up a cooler 28. The width of the cooler 28 is reduced to about less than a half as much as the width of the body 20 of the refrigerator, and the cooler is arranged horizontally alongside a compressor 33 in a machine room 32. Thus, the velocity of air passing through the cooler is increased to develop an effect of the grooving, thereby providing a refrigerator with a higher internal capacity efficiency of storage and excellent stability, while securing the cooling capacity of the cooler 28 and the heat radiating capability of the machine room.
