A rubber composition for the manufacture of tires comprises an elastomer, a reinforcing white filler, an alkoxysilane polysulfide coupling agent a dihydro pyridine and a guanidine derivative. A rubber composition (C) for the manufacture of tires comprises a dieneic elastomer, a reinforcing white filler, an alkoxysilane polysulfide (ASPS) coupling agent (for coupling the filler/elastomer), a 1,2-dihydro pyridine (DHP) and a guanidine derivative. Independent claims are included for: (1) a process for preparing the composition by kneading the ingredients to attain a temperature of 120-190 deg C; (2) use of the composition for the fabrication of tires or semi-finished rubber products (SF), which are to be used in tires, especially semi-finished products selected from the tread and layers under the tread, the sidewall etc.; and (3) tires produced from composition (C) and optionally cured and (iv) semi finished products (SF).
