PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high-sensitivity water detector which can accurately detect a small-scale leakage of water, while being equipped with a small-sized sensing part capable of detecting water leakage through a small gap. SOLUTION: The water leakage detector is equipped with a rod-type sensing part 3, which has a couple of mutually insulated electrodes 10 and 11 and can be grounded freely, a support case 4 which is coupled with the sensing part 3, while being equipped with a couple of lead wires 12 and 13 electrically connected by the electrodes 10 and 11, and a detection main body 9 equipped with a control means 14 which detects a current flowing between both the electrodes 10 and 11, by applying a voltage between both the lead wires 12 and 13, and an insulating part 18 present between the electrodes 10 and 11 is formed of plastic which has wettability and is free of immersion occurrence to constitute a hydrophilic function part.
