The use of therapeutic compounds in the modification of T-cell, T-cell antigen presenting cell (APC) interactions and the interactions between pathogenic organisms and immunocompetent cells of a host, specifically modulating the interaction between Notch protein family members and their ligands, Delta and Serrate. The therapeutic compounds will be useful when a T-cell mediated disease or infection is due to an allergy, autoimmunity, graft rejection, tumor induced aberrations to the T-cell system, and infectious diseases such as those caused by Plasmodium species, Microfilariae, Helminths, Mycobacteria, HIV, Cytomegalovirus, Pseudomonas, Taxoplasma, Echinococcus, Haemophilus, influenza type B, measles, Hepatitus C or Toxicara.
