nuclear power engineering; decontamination of radioactive metal surfaces. SUBSTANCE: part whose metal surface is contaminated with radionuclides is placed in service tank, movable electrode is installed in a spaced relation to surface to be decontaminated, then part and electrode are connected to pulse generator leads. After that water is introduced in surface-to-electrode space and spark discharge is started. High temperature due to spark discharge causes fusion of metal surface layer. Spark discharge is suppressed under the impact of electrohydraulic shock; in the process molten metal is ejected from crater and granulated in cold water. In this way granules of desired size are produced from radioactive melt. EFFECT: reduced amount of radioactive wastes escaping in gaseous and aerosol state. 7 cl
