Surveillance system has a processor (1) coupled to a number of sensors (2), a display (4), an input device (6), a communication circuit (7,8) and a number of cameras (11), with different views of the monitored area provided by the display by switching between different cameras. The processor allows an artificial object, e.g. a measured value, to be inserted in a displayed view and other objects to be erased, under control of the input device.
