The bearing unit serves at least one connecting rod (5) on the stroke journal (4) of the crankshaft of a piston engine. It has axial guide devices to guide the connecting rod axially on the crankshaft. These devices have at least one basically frictionless axial bearing, e.g. a ball bearing (21, 22) or a hydrodynamic bearing.
