A measurement chamber (6) receives the laser beam directed from a semipermeable mirror (3). A photodetector (8) is arranged along the axis of the illumination beam for measuring the transmitted light. Light back scattered by the particles in the chamber is measured by photodetector (9). The signal output of the photodetectors is stored by a digital memory oscilloscope (11).
