<p>The invention provides a method of treatment of schizophrenia, which comprises administering to a human schizophrenia patient an effective amount of an agent that increases the metabolism of GDP-fucose by α-(1→3)-fucosyl transferase and/or an agent that decreases the metabolism of GDP-fucose by GDP-fucose hydrolase. The invention further provides the use of such agents in the manufacture of a medicament. The invention also relates to methods for the diagnosis of schizophrenia.</p> |
