A chat system comprising a plurality of terminals (2) connected to each other via a network and transferring message information to/from a partner terminal (2), wherein each terminal (2) comprises a communication unit (10) for transferring message information or the like, a message information control unit (20) for controlling message information, a party control unit (30) for performing control such as forming and cancelling parties, and an interface control unit (40) for controlling a display unit and input unit. Each terminal (2) forms parties while transferring a first reception signal and second reception signal generated by a first receiving unit (31) and second receiving unit (32) to/from each other, and one terminal (2) delivers functions similar to those of a regular chat server to thereby realize a server-less chat system.
