<p>A method and system for providing file streaming utilizing a disk drive (100) is disclosed. The method and system comprises providing a plurality of spiral tracks on a disk and writing data onto the spiral tracks (604). The data can be continuously written onto the tracks without a track step delay. Accordingly, a system and method in accordance with the present invention utilizes a video file streaming technology system (VFST). This system has the ability to stream files into spiral files of any physical length on a disk drive. Multiple streaming sessions can be created on the disk without user modifications. In addition, the system also has the ability to delete or save partial sessions, and to reallocate streaming buffer space without user commands. The VFST disk format allows for free space on the disk to be used for saved files or streaming sessions, thereby allowing for the most efficient use of storage.</p> |
