NOVEL SUBSTANCE M-17A AND PROCESS FOR PRODUCING THE SAME

A substance M-17A having an anti-blue algae activity which is represented by the following formula; a microorganism belonging to the genus <i>Sphingomonas</i> which produces the substance M-17A; anti-blue algae agents containing as the active ingredient the substance M-17A, its salt or the M-17A-producing microorganism; and a method of purifying water which comprises bringing the water into contact with the substance M-17A, its salt or the M-17A-producing microorganism.
