1,201,782. Washing and filling casks. BURNETT & ROLFE Ltd. 17 Oct., 1968 [26 Oct., 1967], No. 48810/67. Heading B8T. A machine for washing and filling beer kegs includes a washing station 2, a filling station 15, an intermediate station 9 where the kegs are delayed before passing to the filling station, a detecting device connected to the filling station for detecting faulty washing of a keg, and a control interconnection logic circuit, Figs. 2 and 3 (not shown), between a reject switch (20) and a solenoid (21) which lifts the table 17 off the filling station. On detection of a faultily washed keg the reject switch (20) is closed causing the solenoid to remain inoperative, via the logic circuit, thus allowing the keg to pass through the machine without being filled. The logic circuit, however, allows kegs already at the intermediate station 9 and the filling station 15 to continue through the machine in the normal manner after the reject switch (20) is closed. Three detecting devices may be provided, one which detects, when a seal is not obtained between the washing head and the opening in the keg, another which detects when a predetermined volume of washing fluid is not supplied in a predetermined time, and another which measures the conductivity of fluid leaving the keg after being washed. The detecting devices may operate the reject switch automatically or alternatively produce a signal so that the reject switch is operated manually. The machine as shown is the same as that described and claimed in Specification 1,137,260 which is referred to. Specification 1,153,251 is also referred to. The logic circuit comprises an arrangement of transistors acting as " nor " gates connected to the switches 4, 11, 13, 14, 19 and 20 of the machine. |
