The apparatus to lay a band of yarns laterally or diagonally, between side holding hooks on transport chains, has a weft carrier which moves to and fro across them. Yarn separators and rows of holding pins are tightly against the outer sides of the rows of hooks, at constant intervals across the production line and maximum equal height. The individual separator is at right angles towards the yarn holding pin in the row, at gaps and offset between two holding pins. The laid yarns are bonded together into a textile fabric structure by knitting yarns or by an adhesive.
