CONSTITUTION: The magneto-optical recording medium has at least a reproducing layer 1 and a recording layer 3. The recording layer 3 has at least 1st and 2nd magnetic films 31 and 32 each comprising a rare earth-transition metal magnetic film whose composition at room temperature ranges from a compensated composition to a transition metal-predominant composition. The recording medium exhibits excellent magnetic characteristics in a wide temperature range.
