Jacquard loom and method of operating said loom

A jacquard installation (2) is connected to a loom (1) by a mechanical transmission (4a,4b,5), both being driven by a common motor (3). An additional drive (8) is connected to at least the jacquard (2) and is linked to a controller (9). A sensor (7) measuring the angle of rotation and/or a sensor (6) measuring the torque between the loom (1) and the jacquard are connected to the controller (9) which then acts to reduce the torque and/or speed variations.
