<p>Methods for making tapered straight and cantilevered structures and the resulting structures provide maximal nanodelivery of electromagnetic radiation and chemicals and provide nanosensing of ionic phenomena with high efficiency. Glass pulling techniques with specific protocols are applied to glass micropipettes and optical fibers.</p>
