PURPOSE: A portable device using volatile memory and a data conservation method thereof are provided to improve a performance of a portable device by substituting a volatile memory for a non volatile memory. CONSTITUTION: A portable device(100) regenerates an audio signal from digital data. A volatile memory(10) records user's audio data and a control program. A non volatile memory(20) compresses and records initial system data. An audio process unit(30) processes the recorded audio signal. An outer data input/output unit(40) inputs outer data and outputs inner data. A power supply unit(50) supplies a power. A power management unit(60) keeps a watch on a discharge condition of the power supply unit(50). A central process unit(70) controls the volatile memory(10), the non volatile memory(20), the audio process unit(30), the outer data input/output unit(40) and the power management unit(60).
