PURPOSE: A portable image pickup device is provided to improve the convenience in operation with keeping an infrared ray communication function and an image pickup function. CONSTITUTION: In a wrist type portable image pickup device, a device body(2) is provided with wristbands(3,4), a camera part(6) and an optical communication part(7). The device body is provided with the camera part and the optical communication part closely side by side. A transparent cover member(21) is provided to cover the camera part and the optical communication part in common. A shutter operation member(23) is arranged apart from the camera part and the optical communication part. A data display part(22) is arranged between the shutter operation member and the camera part as well as the optical communication part. The wristband(3) is so arranged turnably down to the bottom of the device main body.
