PURPOSE: A method for selling and renting an electronic document through a piracy proof is provided to enable a user to purchase a book off line, and to prevent an illegal distribution by respectively authorizing the user to use an electronic document in case that the user purchases the electronic document. CONSTITUTION: An electronic document is made from a general book. The electronic document is registered in a database server 2. The database server 2 is interlocked with a web server. A user selects the electronic document on a web site which sells electronic documents and pays for the document. User information and other necessary information of the user are extracted. An encoding generation engine server reads the electronic document. The electronic document is transformed. Information on an encoding key is recorded in a database server 1. The electronic document is transmitted to the web server. The web server transmits the electronic document which the user selects. A download record of the user is recorded in a database server3.
