PURPOSE: A method for improving extraction of a lane dividing line of a lane-escape warning device is provided to reduce the number of unnecessary boundary line search by designating a search area of lane edge and stably track the lane even in a condition that the lane or the width of a road is changed. CONSTITUTION: A method for improving extraction of a lane dividing line of the lane-escape warning device includes the steps of making a local area, where a lane is shown, as a search area, previously setting an estimate value of a lane width according to a vertical position searched, emphasizing the search area of original image input from a camera with yellow color and processing the search area with 1x2 mask, searching a bright area in order of -, + and -, and registering the searched bright area in a reserved lane edge list if the width of the searched bright area is similar to the estimate value of the lane width.
