PURPOSE: A process for producing colored glass is provided to achieve desired transparency and color of glass without eye strain and not to be tired of particular color by employing ashes obtained from different waste materials. CONSTITUTION: The process comprises a step of oxidizing ashes of trees and plants, used paper and other waste materials to prepare a raw material of colored glass and alternately oxidizing and melting the raw material at not more than 1,000 deg.C. The obtained glass has different levels of color and transparency depending on components of ash (that is, different oxides) and their composition; oxidation temperature; pH values of ash solution; mixing ratio of different ashes and/or conditions for fusing the ash (oxidation/reduction conditions). The ash is one of the ceramic materials useable in production of glaze for ceramic wares and can apply to the glass to increase transparency and beautiful color.
