METHOD FOR PURIFYING BENZOYLPEROXIDE

PURPOSE: A method for purifying benzoylperoxide is provided to remove moisture contained in the benzoylperoxide by substituting the moisture with organic solvent, have safety, and give high purity of at least 99.5%. CONSTITUTION: The method comprises the steps of adding organic solvent to benzoylperoxide with stirring, filtering the mixture to separate solids, and drying the solids. The organic solvent is selected from C1-8 lower alcohols, ketones and C5-10 paraffins solvents. An amount of organic solvent is 20% by weight based on benzoylperoxide. The drying step is carried out at ambient temperature or 20-90deg.C, and preferably under vacuum.
