PURPOSE: A label changing protocol is provided to enable label change for searching a new routing path in a packet exchange protocol such as multi protocol label switching or hybrid state packet switching protocol. CONSTITUTION: An upper protocol stack(1) does not recognize a protocol stack(2) intending to change a label, and a lower protocol stack(3) operates regardless of a state of the protocol stack(2). When a packet transferred from the upper protocol stack(1) is sent to the protocol stack(2), it is checked the state of the protocol stack(2). If the packet is the first packet, a value of a label variable(6) is set as '0'. The packet is transferred in a soft state. The packet of the soft state continues to be transferred until a state transition packet is received from the other person and the state of the protocol stack(2) is changed into a hard state. |
