PURPOSE: An optical disk, playing/recording devices and playing/recording methods thereof are provided to execute multi-valued recording at a high density by effectively averting the deterioration of error rates, and to form tracks by a narrow track pitch by decreasing crosstalk. CONSTITUTION: Modulation signals are formed by suppressing DC components of multi-valued signals and high-frequency components within a range where inter-code interference does not occur between adjacent data. The signals are recorded by displacement of group wall surfaces. The track pitch normalized by resolution is so regulated as to be confined within a range from 0.44 to 0.60. Therefore, tracks are formed within a relatively small track pitch range in recording multi-values.
