Hybrid drive system for vehicles

The drive system (1) for a hybrid drive, esp. for a vehicle, with an electric machine (5), operable as a generator, at least indirectly coupled mechanically with an IC engine (6). The electric machine is designed as a permanent magnet excitable machine. An rpm/torque converting unit is provided between the IC engine and the electric machine, which effects a speed alteration of the driven rpm of the IC engine compared to the driving rpm of the generator. The rpm torque converter unit is a mechanical gear box (8).
