Compositions for oral administration to animals containing methyl salicylate. A premix of the methyl salicylate and a nutritional support is prepared and this is then incorporated into a feedstuff or into drinking water. The nutritional support preferably contains animal or vegetable gelatin, together with sugars and vegetable oils such as olive oil. An especially preferred support contains 20 - 45 % gelatin, 20 - 45 % water, 5 - 25 % glucose, and 5 - 25 % vegetable oil. Solid feedstuffs containing the premix preferably contain 0.4 - 1.1 g of methyl salicylate per kilogram. Drinking water containing the premix preferably contains 0.0001 - 0.02 % of methyl salicylate. |
