PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide (1) a high purity compound [A] and a method for producing the same, (2) a method for producing a compound [I] from 3-quinuclidinone via the compound [II] and the compound [III] effectively in stable high yield in a safe manner on an industrial scale, and (3) a hydrate and a new crystal of the compound [III]. SOLUTION: A compound [I] is obtained as follows: raw materials are added in a specific order to obtain the compound [II]; the obtained compound is made to react with an alkali metal salt of phenothiazine directly without any treatment or the like to obtain the compound [III]; and subsequently, the compound [III] or its hydrate is made to react with a halogenating agent while removing the acidic gas formed as a byproduct and adding water. The hydrate of the compound [III] is obtained from wet crystals of the compound [III] by low temperature drying or the like, and the new crystal is obtained by crystallizing the compound [III] from a specific solvent. The high purity compound [A] is obtained from a compound [I] by using a specific base in glyme.
