HIGH SPEED MECHANICAL STRAINING PROCESS TO PROVIDE EXTENSIBILITY TO LAMINATES FOR USE IN DISPOSABLE ABSORBENT ARTICLES

The present invention relates to a high speed mechanical straining process t o provide extensibility (56) to laminates (1) for disposable absorbent article s such as sanitary napkins, panty liners, and incontinence pads having side wrapping elements (52) for folding around the side edges of the wearer's undergarment. The components are designed to automatically wrap the side edg es of the wearer's undergarment when the indergarments are pulled up by having zones (56) of extensibility. Importantly, the zones (56) are created by a hi gh speed straining process of the laminate which comprises two layers (2, 3) at least one of which has apertures. The layers at least are joined in the extensibility zones (56) to each other by a soldering step.
