The invention provides highly purified preparations of Carboxypeptidase B. These preparations are generally free of contaminating protease activity, like chymotrypsin or trypsin activity, free of animal products, bacterial cell components and other contaminants that result from conventional purification processes. The highly purified Carboxypeptidase B preparations are particularly suited for the manufacture of recombinant proteins that require delicate proteolytic processes in their manufacture. Compositions containing the present Carboxypeptidase B and such recombinant proteins are also disclosed. Finally, an efficient yeast-based purification system, with high yield downstream processing steps is provided with which the inventive preparations may be made. |
