PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a glass composition for lighting substantially not containing lead, having excellent heat processability and electrical insulating properties, hardly causing weathering. SOLUTION: This glass composition for lighting is characterized in that the glass composition substantially contains no lead and comprises 60-75% SiO2, 1-5% Al2O3, 3-11% Na2O, 1-10% K2O, 0-3% Li2O, 5-14.5% Li2O+Na2O+K2 O, 0-3% CaO, 0-2% MgO, 4.1-6.5% BaO, 0.5-10% SrO, 4.6-16% MgO+CaO+ BaO+SrO, 0-3% B2O3 and 0.01-5% ZrO2.
