PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid filling apparatus which expands a bag before filling the liquid to ensure a predetermined sufficient volume, and maintains the condition of the expanded bag also during filling of the liquid. SOLUTION: A nozzle 13 is inserted in a through hole 55a in a lid member 55 placed on an upper end 2b of a spout 2 of the bag 1. The gas fed from a gas feed line 22 is fed into the bag through a flow passage 55d extending in the lid member in the radial direction, a first space demarcated between an inner circumference of a large diameter portion 55c of the through hole and an outer circumference of the nozzle, and a second space demarcated between the outer circumference of the nozzle and an inner circumference of a hole 2a in the spout 2. Even when the liquid is beeing filled, the gas is present within the bag to maintain the expanded condition of the bag, and the pressure in the bag is maintained substantially constant by a regulator 73.
