PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber cutter for granting stable bending operation without holding a bare optical fiber at its end between rotating rollers of a chip recovery mechanism before granting an initial scar or before cutting the optical fiber. SOLUTION: The optical fiber cutter is provided with closeable clamp 40, 41 for holding the bare optical fiber, a cutter portion 50 for giving an initial scar to the bare optical fiber held between the clamp, a pillow 30 for granting bending to the initially scarred bare optical fiver to develop the initial scar before cutting the bare optical fiber, and the chip recovery mechanism 60 for recovering chips of the cut bare optical fiber. The recovery mechanism has the closeable rotating rollers for holding the chips. The closing operation of the rotating rollers is associated with the sliding operation of the cutter portion. |
