COMPOSITION AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING STRETCHABLE POLYMER, AND PLASTIC ARTICLE MOLDED THEREFROM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a composition for producing a highly stretchable polymer which is suitable for use in molding variously a plastic article because it can form an amorphous anisotropic fused product; and a plastic article molded from the polymer. SOLUTION: The polymer is a stretchable liquid crystalline polymer having repeated units which are derived from (A) p-hydroxybenzoic acid; (B) 6- hydroxy-2-naphthoic acid; (C) at least one aromatic dicarboxylic acid; (D) at least one aromatic diol and/or a hydroxylamine component which contains at least partially 4,4'-diphenol; and (E) one or more aromatic monomers which can be polymerized to produce a polymer with selected 1,3-(meta-) bond. The stretchable polymer is particularly suitable for a multilayer laminate and a bicomponent fiber.
