PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a minute aggregate removing filter medium extremely low in erythrocyte adsorbing capacity and extremely high in minute aggregate removing capability and a method for removing minute aggregate from erythrocyte-containing blood in an extremely efficient manner. SOLUTION: The minute aggregate removing filter medium comprises a fibrous porous base material having a mean fiber diameter of 8 - below 50μm and containing a nonionic hydrophilic portion and a basic portion on its surface and characterized in that the hydrophilic portion has a hydrophilic basic group positioned on a terminal side from the basic portion. An apparatus including at least an introducing port, a filter containing the filter medium and a lead-out port is used to remove minute aggregate from erythrocyte- containing blood.
