PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a thermoplastic resin in-mold foamed molded object high in the mutual bonding strength of foamed particles, high in mechanical strength and not easily decomposed even if receiving an impact or pulled. SOLUTION: A mold having a steam hole and capable of being closed but incapable of being hermetically closed is filled with thermoplastic resin prefoamed particles and the prefoamed particles and the mold are preheated by preheating steam and subsequently heated to temperature equal to or higher than the fusing temperature of the prefoamed particles by fusing steam to manufacture a thermoplastic resin in-mold foamed molded object. In this manufacturing method, normal pressure superheated steam is used as fusing steam.
