PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a clear coating material for forming a matted composite coating film having both a matting function and a metallic glitter effect which can exhibit designedness having never been available in the past, a method of forming a designed matted composite coating film, and a coated product. SOLUTION: The clear coating material contains 3-25 mass %, based on 100 mass pts. solids content of the coating material, aluminum based glitter having an average diameter of 20-100μm which have been coated with a resin in a vehicle. The composite coating film which has both matting properties and a metallic glittering effect and excels in designedness is formed by coating this coating material on a base coating film.
