摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plasma mass filter for recognizing the mass of charged particles in plasma independently of their initial positions and the initial speeds. SOLUTION: This inverse orbital-plasma mass filter 10 comprises a cylindrical container 12 positioned at a radius distance rout from a vertical axis 1, a cylindrical container 16 positioned at a radius distance rcoll, and a plasma chamber 18 between them. A uniform magnetic field B in the vertical axial direction and an electric field E crossing the magnetic field B and inward in the radius direction are generated in the chamber 18. Plasma 36 containing charged particles M1 and M2 with a low mass value and a high mass value, respectively, is injected to a gap between the container 16 and a pint at a radius distance rin from the vertical axis 1 (rout>rin>rcoll). The plasma in the chamber 18 has low collision density with extremely low probability of particle collision. In the respective orbits T1, T2 of the particles M1, M2, the particle M2 comes into collision against a collector owing to the effects of the magnetic field B and the electric field E, whereas the particle M1 does not come into collision against the collector if the following relations are satisfied: T1<(rin-rcoll) and T2>(rout-rin).
