In the forward channel, optical signals are transmitted by wavelength multiplexing. The optical signals consist of pairs of optical signals, each pair containing a modulated and an unmodulated optical signal. Part of the unmodulated optical signal of one pair is extracted from the optical signals received via the forward channel. The extracted optical signal is modulated by the information signal to be transmitted and transmitted via the return channel. Independent claims are included for a transceiver device and for a method of transmitting information signals using optical heterodyne reception. |
