Fire retardant compositions and methods for their preparation and use

A fire retardant composition comprising a cured film, wherein said film is formed from a film-forming composition comprising a curable resin and a fire retardant, the fire retardant being included in an amount from about 5 to about 95 weight percent based on the weight of the cured film, and wherein when the film is adhered to a flexible substrate, the film substantially does not alter the hand of the flexible substrate.
