A system and method for interconnecting a plurality of home entertainment devices using a local CDMA-based network, wherein the plurality of home entertainment devices include a first television and a first video cassette recorder (VCR). A first CDMA receiver is coupled to the first television, and a first CDMA transceiver is coupled to the first VCR. A control center includes and input port that receives a television signal from a cable or satellite source, and the control center is coupled to the first television set and the first VCR by the local CDMA-based network. The control center includes a CDMA receiver that receives signals transmitted with the first CDMA transceiver from the first VCR to the control center. The control center also includes a CDMA transmitter that transmits video signals to the first CDMA receiver coupled to the first television, and video signals to the first CDMA transceiver coupled to the first VCR. Further devices including further televisions, VCRs, a personal computer, an audio tuner, a compact disc player and audio speakers may also be coupled to the control center by the local CDMA-based network. |
