PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device for removing a coating layer of a glass plate, not remaining in the form of a line (a stripe) when flaw or the like is generated on the removing surface, and a glass plate machining device. SOLUTION: A coating layer removing device 4 is provided with an outer fount surface 29 as a removing surface for removing a coating layer 3 on one surface 2a of a glass plate 2, an X direction moving device 120 and Y direction moving device 121 for moving the outer front surface 29 in relation to the glass plate 2 in an A direction parallel to one surface 2a of the glass plate 2, and an electric motor 21 for moving the outer front surface 29 in relation to the glass plate 2 in the D direction as the other direction intersecting the A direction.
